Museum Object Handling And Drawing

MUSEUM-STYLE FUN

Explore museum secrets in this hands-on workshop! Become a pretend registrar, examine objects, draw them with cool techniques, and create museum labels.

In this workshop, discover the behind-the-scenes of museums and how objects find their way onto exhibitions. Every object in a museum has a story before making its way to the museum, and a story of how they journeyed there. We record this information to preserve stories for the future.

Each student will get an object from the collection, and we’ll dive into examining it like museum professionals. Learn to register essential details in a condition report, just like real Museum Registrars do. After that, instead of attaching a photo, we’ll have fun drawing our objects using special tools and techniques that will make the illustrated objects look more real!

Lastly, we will learn all about museum labels to create labels for our objects. Get ready for an interactive, hands-on experience as we journey through the fascinating world of museum registration and curation!
