1000 Books Before School turns 1!
July 2025 marked one year of City of Canada Bay’s early literacy program.
Reading from an early age boosts vocabulary, imagination, and critical thinking skills, and gives children a head start when they begin school!
Since the launch of the program at City of Canada bay Libraries:
– 46,105 books have been read and logged
– 672 children have joined the program
– 9 children have read 1000 books in under 12 months!
Families have been loving participating in 1000 Books Before School, noticing a positive bonding experience for them and their child, and improvements in their child’s language development and engagement with stories.
